
Extend the life, enhance the function, and improve the appearance of your cutting boards with mineral oil. I use Boos Mystery Oil but any food-safe mineral oil will work. I’ve had my butcher block cutting board for >5yrs and this has kept her looking like new (and fighting off, warping, cracks, etc.).
Every couple of weeks (or whenever my cutting board starts to look ashy), after I’ve washed and let the board fully air dry, I slather on a ton of this stuff and let it sit overnight. I’ll usually do my wooden spoons and spatulas, too. In the morning they’ve got a rich, glossy glow (and supercharged water resistance and anti-microbial properties!).
